Invisalign® FAQ's
What is Invisalign® Treatment?
It is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. There are no brackets, wires or restrictions that come with metal braces.
Invisalign® vs Braces
It is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. There are no brackets, wires or restrictions that come with metal braces.
Who can use Invisalign®?
Invisalign® treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. Invisalign’s innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex — all without interrupting your busy life.
What are the benefits of Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is much more than a pretty smile. Crowded teeth are more difficult to clean causing build-up of plaque that causes gingivitis, and may lead to bone loss and periodontal disease.
Invisalign® aligns teeth, improves periodontal hygiene, results in easier teeth cleanings and is non-invasive.
How long do I wear Invisalign®?
Treatment typically takes 6-24 months.
During your treatment, you’ll have regular check-ins with your dentist. Other than that, you just wear your liners 20-22 hours per day and the rest of your life proceeds normally!
Does Invisalign® treatment hurt?
During the first day that you use each set of Invisalign® aligners, you may feel some discomfort. Don’t worry, that’s normal. That’s because the aligner is gently moving your teeth. In most cases, the discomfort passes within the first day.
How Do I Get Invisalign®?
The first step is a consultation with your dentist.
If we determine Invisalign® is a good option for you, we take custom impressions, x-rays and photographic images of your teeth. Invisalign® uses these impressions and pictures to create a 3-D image of them, which your dentist and Invisalign® use to map out a precise progress plan.
This plan is used to create a completely custom set of liners, changed every two weeks.
Is It Covered by Insurance?
Yes!
Most dental insurance covers at least a portion of Invisalign® treatment. Because each patient receives their own customized aligners, the cost can vary significantly.
Staff members at iSmile will discuss the costs of your treatment before it begins, to ensure you have the knowledge you need to make this life-improving decision.
Gold Plus Invisalign Provider
To help patients know which dentists have taken the time to train and learn about their technology, Invisalign came up with the provider system. Dentists who have successfully treated a small number of patients with Invisalign are designated as bronze providers, and they could progress to silver, gold, and eventually Gold Plus status, which indicates that they have helped hundreds of patients achieve gorgeous smiles and lasting results with Invisalign.
The first advantage of choosing an Invisalign Gold Plus Provider is that you can trust the dentist has received extensive training focused on this specific treatment. They also have countless hours of real-world experience, helping people correct a wide variety of orthodontic issues ranging from minor crookedness to misaligned bites. Thanks to this experience, they’re able to help more patients using Invisalign, whereas a less experienced dentist might force a patient to wear metal braces if a problem seems “too complicated.” Gold Plus Providers know how to achieve the desired results with the smallest number of trays possible, which can make the treatment much faster and more affordable.
When you partner with an Invisalign Gold Plus Provider, you’ll also enjoy peace of mind throughout the process. You can trust that they have already helped hundreds of patients before you achieve their smile goals both discreetly and comfortably, and they’re ready to do the exact same for you.
We Are Using
iTero® Dental Impressions
iSmile Coral Gables offers patients a more comfortable, convenient, and patient-friendly alternative to the dreaded impression gel that is normally associated with dental impressions. The iTero® Intraoral Scanner allows doctors to take a 3D digital scan of a patient’s teeth and bite rather than using a viscous impression material. Not only is the iTero® Intraoral Scanner significantly more patient-friendly, it also offers increased precision and eliminates the risks of gagging or swallowing excess impression gel.
Prior to receiving braces, retainers or Invisalign, a patient must have impressions taken of his or her existing smile in order to plan an appropriate orthodontic procedure. Traditionally, dental impressions were taken by inserting large metal trays and liquid plaster against the upper and lower jaw. The material sets to become an elastic solid, providing a detailed replica of a patient’s smile. This method is uncomfortable, time-consuming and often inaccurate as opposed to the iTero® scanner.
iSmile Coral Gables is able to provide our patients with a non-invasive, three- to five-minute scan that digitally captures the form and structure of the tooth and gum line through a series of 3D pictures. This digital impression scanner performs parallel confocal scanning by capturing 100,000 laser points in perfect, sharp focus, providing greater accuracy to patients and virtually eliminating return appointments for readjustments. A new and improved digital map of the mouth helps our team educate our patients for a better in-office experience.
